“I’ve always been a fan of cliches”, he tells her, his eyes focused on her lips as her teeth graze her bottom lip. God, it drives him crazy that she doesn’t understand how gorgeous she is; he doesn’t know how it’s possible for someone to be as beautiful as Amelia and have no idea or even notice the effect it has on other people. He doesn’t say anything else but his hands shake slightly as he unties his hospital gown and pulls it off so that he’s lying next to Amelia in just his boxers and his beanies.
He’s never been with anyone but Jade and it’s slightly strange to be lying next to his very blonde best friend instead of his dark and angry girlfriend but he knows that he needs this. He needs someone who understands what its like to be so broken and feel like there’s no way to recover; he needs something that isn’t about feelings because he just can’t allow himself to feel anymore, not when it hurts him and everyone around him so fucking much.
“I love Jade and you love David. This is just two friends giving each other what they need, right?” he asks, needing to make sure that both of them are on the same page. He doesn’t want to hurt Amelia; doesn’t want to cause any more damage to his friend. He slowly moves so that he’s hovering about Amelia but waits for her to say that she’s on the same page before doing anything else.
She nods in agreement, but her mind has already begun to get hazy. It’s not as though she’d never seen Beck without a shirt on - after all, her parents house had a pool that they frequented before. But this was impossibly different, and she couldn’t help but inhale a sharp and shaky breath as her hands began to shake.
It’s clear he’s making sure that this is as purely physical for her as it was for him. The irony was that this situation was less about sex and more about what it represented, but she nodded. “I’m David’s, and you are Jade’s, but right now we aren’t Amelia and Beck. We’re these shells of them, and we’re just trying to help each other find them again,” she explained, her hands reaching up to wrap around his neck, pulling him closer. She placed a soft kiss against one of his cheeks, smiling. “Two friends,” she began, moving to kiss the other cheek. “Giving each other what they need,” she finished, repeating his words from earlier before allowing her lips to finally press again his.
